Sebastiaan de With, co-founder of Lux, known for its iPhone photography and videography applications such as Halide and Kino, announced on Wednesday that he has joined Apple’s design team.
This marks de With’s second tenure at Apple, having previously contributed to the development of iCloud and Find My. Before co-founding Lux with Ben Sandofsky in 2016, he held design positions at Sony, T-Mobile, and Mozilla.
“I am thrilled to join the world’s finest team and work on my favorite products,” de With stated in a post on X.
In related news, Sandofsky mentioned in a Reddit post that the development of Halide will continue under Lux. The company has recently unveiled a public preview of Halide Mark III, emphasizing a new feature called “Looks,” which aims to replicate the aesthetics of traditional film cameras.
De With arrives at Apple during a period of notable transformation within the division. The Liquid Glass design introduced with iOS 26 has not received the anticipated positive feedback, and Alan Dye, Apple’s chief of user interface design, departed for Meta in December.
Furthermore, last week, Bloomberg reported that John Ternus, who is expected to succeed Tim Cook, assumed control of hardware and software design towards the end of the previous year.
